Introduction to Lower Extremity Venous Imaging- DVD (2010)

Recorded presentation of lower extremity venous anatomy, hemodynamics, and pathology. Methods for detecting deep and superficial venous thrombosis, differentiating chronic from acute DVT; venous incompetency, calf vein imaging, and caveats gained from years of venous imaging. Includes a DVT imaging demonstration.

Target Audience

Sonographers and medical professionals learning how to perform venous duplex/color examinations; Physicians at an entry level of interpreting venous duplex/color examinations. Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) those involved with Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Radiology, and General/Vascular Surgery.

After viewing this video presentation, the participant should be able to:

- Identify the lower extremity venous anatomy;

- Describe routine scan protocols for performing a lower extremity venous evaluation;

- Recognize normal and abnormal venous Doppler characteristics;

- Differentiate sonographic characteristics of acute vs. chronic DVT;

- Explain Doppler findings associated with venous reflux.
